Our Philosophy

A well-designed home
evokes a sense of peace.

Location, architecture, and lifestyle inform the creative direction — but it is the desires and inspiration of every client that always drive the narrative. We listen deeply before we design.

Our work is anchored in the belief that beautiful spaces should also be deeply liveable: a home that tells your story and grows with you.

About EGB Interiors

Two perspectives.
One vision.

Emily Gerne and Genevieve Bottoni founded EGB Interiors in 2019. They are known for creating homes that are as uniquely beautiful as they are functional and comfortable. Their work, rooted in the art of timeless style, is anchored by the belief that a well-designed home should not only tell your story, but also evoke a sense of peace. Home is our sanctuary, which is why Emily and Jen strive to create the sense of balance that comes from an authentically chic, pulled together home — and not one that's so precious or forced that you're afraid to use a room. Although location, architecture, and lifestyle inform the creative direction, it is the desires and inspiration of every client that always drives the narrative.

Whether it was painting her bedroom ceiling, much to her parents' chagrin, or designing, sewing, and selling her own clothes in high school, Emily has always been innately creative. After graduating from Middlebury College, Emily worked as the Photo Editor at Harper's Bazaar, where she produced photo shoots for some of the most respected fashion photographers — from Patrick Demarchelier to Peter Lindbergh — in the world. But it was the dynamic tension between art and commerce that Emily found most interesting, which prompted her to pursue her MBA at Columbia Business School. After graduating with honors, she joined the merchant training program at Bloomingdale's. Emily spent the next decade as a Ready-To-Wear buyer, working with the top contemporary and luxury brands, before branching into product development and private label for Aqua, Bloomingdale's cashmere and Dylan Gray. Ultimately, Emily moved into an in-house incubator role created for her, as the Director of New Business Development and Strategy, where she built the highly profitable concession business. In 2019, Emily and Jen launched EGB Interiors, which started as a side hustle and has turned into a passion project and full time career. Following her father's advice to "be your own boss," coupled with the fact that she thrives when given the opportunity to wear multiple hats, Emily has loved every minute of owning a small business. When she's not coaching Chatham girls lacrosse, fundraising for Cycle for Survival, traveling, or making her grandmother's famous vodka sauce with her 3 kids, Emily spends her days obsessing over interiors with her clients, creating inspiration boards, rendering, and feverishly discovering new artists and textile resources.

Jen is one of those people who still sees the beauty in writing things on paper, whether it's hand drawn layouts, meticulous notes, or the lost art of a penned thank you. Her mother would describe her as a child who was only happy with a pen and paper in her hand — and her mother would know best, as they spent many hours side by side. Her mother worked as an Interior Designer and Jen began to soak in the creativity around her from fabric swatches, wallpaper samples, and anything she could get her hands on from her mom's workspace. Jen began exploring different forms of art as a teen and took classes in photography, sketching, painting, and ceramics. She landed on Design as her passion and majored in Textiles, Fashion Merchandising, and Design at the University of Rhode Island. Jen worked at a large apparel conglomerate in New York City after graduation and focused on textiles. She traveled to Mexico on a monthly basis and created a denim line with the design team for many seasons. She reveled in her bi-yearly trips to Paris to attend The Première Vision and lost herself in the exquisite fabrics that surrounded her in one of her favorite cities. Back in her corporate role in New York she led a team that focused on color, fabric quality and product development. After 7 years in the fashion industry, Jen and her husband moved out of New York and Jen took on her most beloved role as mother to her 3 children. When the baby years had quickly escaped her she met Emily and they spoke often of their mutual love for design. They decided to take a leap of faith and launch EGB Interiors in 2019. When Jen isn't collaborating with clients, fabric scheming, drawing layouts, or sourcing new products, she can usually be found watching her children perform on a stage or sports field. Her family enjoys cooking, dancing and laughing together in their favorite place — their home, which Jen designed from top to bottom and is always finding new projects to embark on.

Emily and Genevieve completely transformed our home. Every room feels like it was made for us — because it was.
